Stolen: Rowing for health and for fitness

Stolen: Rowing for health and for fitness.
Why Row? If you are looking for a sport that is both graceful and beneficial, try rowing. It is a non-impact exercise that can be done at any age, and at any level of effort. It uses all major muscle groups, and by doing so, stimulates the heart and lungs more efficiently and completely than most other exercises. The rowing motion involves sitting down and generating resistance based on how hard you choose to work. Rowing is a whole body exercise which uses the major muscles of the legs as well as the back, core, shoulders and arms together in a continuous motion. It also involves a range of motion that incorporates stretching of the muscles and more muscle use than other activities. Rowing strengthens the muscles that hold the joints in place. Unlike the jumping of basketball or the repetitive pounding of running or the twisting and turning of tennis, the joints are held in place without impact while you row.more

Wii “EA Active” Review: “Provides A Greater Challenge To Gamers”

Wii “EA Active” Review: “Provides A Greater Challenge To Gamers”.
What”s more amazing about the latest interactive fitness game for the Wii, “EA Active”, than its predecessors goes far beyond its ease of play, its engaging “30 Day Challenge” mode, and even its ability to achieve results over time. “EA Active” is such a phenomenon because it legitimizes what was formally a somewhat flimsy, if not strictly novel, concept in computer gaming. Games like “Wii Fit” introduced and capitalized on the outrageous concept of a video game which produces the opposite effect of normal video games that turn players into zombified coach potatoes. But that doesn”t necessarily mean that these games were good, only a good idea. “EA Active” gets it right, and in doing so solidifies the road to an entirely new brand of action game; the kind that involves actual action!

Although the aesthetic tone and theme of “EA Active” will be instantly recognizable as more of an interactive fitness video than a traditional video game its clear that in its first outing EA is playing things extremely safe.more

“Be practical about fitness”

“Be practical about fitness”.
To feel good, I must hit the gym at least three times a week that”s an absolute must for me. I lay more emphasis on cardio, and not so much on weights. So, I do stuff that makes me stay as lean as is good for me. I don”t believe in going for a jog or early morning walks, the gym is good enough for me.

When people talk about yoga, I say, woh kya hota hai? I believe in doing what”s practical and good for me…, and works for me. Power yoga is not my scene. In fact, show me five people who do proper, serious yoga. Actually, I feel that yoga should be done if you have a good teacher. With the kind of travelling I do, that”s not practical for me. I”m away for quite a few months abroad and can”t be looking for a yoga teacher or trainer there. One must be true to the lifestyle one leads.more

Letter: Fitness vouchers can make Vero fiscally fit

Letter: Fitness vouchers can make Vero fiscally fit.
The most egregious error, however, is the argument that the city provides these fitness services at ‘low cost’ and that low-income residents would be excluded from private ‘fitness’ without Leisure Square.

First, private clubs are required to charge prices that cover all of their costs (including city taxes and lease costs or mortgages on facilities) while Leisure Square can ignore some of these costs and have taxpayers (who may never use these services) fill in the difference. This is both unfair and inefficient.

Second, Leisure Square”s low prices benefit low-income and high-income users alike. None of the letter writers made any convincing argument that taxpayer subsidies to high-income users makes any fairness sense whatever.

Finally, there is a way of preventing unfair competition and helping low-income consumers of fitness services.more
